The Ben Wilson Surf Trip
Just in front of our beach house we have the world class wave spot Melkbos. Its one of the finest wave spots near Cape Town, located the northernmost of Table Bay s quality beach-breaks.
The waves in front of this very long sandy beach are usually well-sized that s why for many Melkbos is the main course on the daily menu. However with the changing conditions in the area there are always a number of unique spots to discover. During our stay we ve partnered with a local guide, who will tell us where the action is every day.
Water Type: Medium Wave (1-3m), Big Wave (> 3m). Hazards: Reefs. Quality: Clean. The spot is behind a point break (left and right break). BeachType: Nice Sandy beach.
Hazards: Rocks. Wind Best Months: January, February, March, December
The spots around Cape Town
Since the 90s, Cape Town has steadily developed into the preferred winter escape for European windsurfers and kiters. While Europe suffers an enforced break, you re able to hit the water almost daily during the South African summer at a seemingly inexhaustible variety of spots; freshwater lakes to world-class reef-breaks. The region around Cape Town divides into three areas: Table Bay in front of the city, the Cape Peninsulas Atlantic coast, and False Bay which is part of the Indian Ocean.
Ben is not only the pioneer of kitesurfing and co-founder of BWSurf, he s incredibly passionate in sharing his world class skills and experiences in his coaching clinics. Be prepared to discover new kitesurfing horizons under the professional and personal guidance of Ben.
During the coaching sessions, Ben provides valuable video feedback, assessing your footage and making suggestions. Bens father, Bill has years of experience shooting surfers and kiters, and will be capturing your best (and worst) moments all week.
Responsable for all European activities of BWSurf. Karl will assist Ben during the week and if you need anything during your stay he will be the guy to go to. In charge to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Our local guide, Jonas lives in Cape Town since many years. Passionate windsurfer who knows all the spots in the area and where to be depending on the conditions. Jonas will make sure we re on the right spot at the right time.
After the famous Fiji Weeks at Namotu, Ben Wilson hosts a new dream destination where he will push your waveriding skills to a level of which you d never thought it was possible to reach. Ben has selected Cape Town in South Africa, with its variety of world class wave spots and its impressive wind stats in the selected period of the year you re in for an experience of a lifetime. If you re more the relaxing type, while your partner is going for action in the water, you will enjoy the unique beach house we have reserved exclusively for us, or the many other possibilities in and around Cape Town.
