The story of La Famiile

From a passion for kitesurfing to a place where everyone feels at home.

La Famiile Pousada began with a passion for kitesurfing, with Brazil chosen as the destination. In 2007, Sam Gaillard discovered the coast of Icapuí. The constant wind, warm water, and peaceful surroundings made it immediately clear that this was a special place for both beginners and experienced kiters.

In 2008, he opened the pousada under the name Kite Mansion. Over the years, it grew into a beloved destination for travelers from all over the world.

In 2016, the pousada underwent a complete renovation to enhance comfort and quality. After a period of leasing the property to others, we took it back under our own management in 2025 and reopened it as La Famiile Pousada. This new name reflects the vision behind it: a place where personal attention, hospitality, and a relaxed atmosphere ensure every guest feels at home.

Today, La Famiile welcomes both kiters and travelers looking to enjoy the tranquility, nature, and authentic lifestyle of northeastern Brazil.

La Famiile offers twelve comfortable rooms across four different categories:

There is suitable accommodation for solo travelers, couples, families, and groups of friends. All rooms are air-conditioned to ensure a comfortable stay, even on the hottest days. Additionally, the luxury rooms and bungalows feature a mini-fridge for added comfort. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the pousada.

A varied breakfast is served every morning, featuring a mix of European and Brazilian specialties prepared with fresh ingredients. After a day on the water, you can relax by the pool or enjoy the peaceful atmosphere on the terrace.

There is nothing better after a full day of sports than enjoying a delicious caipirinha or a fresh fruit juice. The pousada offers secure storage for your kiteboarding gear. La Famiile is situated literally right on the sand.
You can walk directly from the pousada to the beach without crossing any roads. Small dogs are also welcome.

La Famiile is located in Tremembé, a small fishing village in the municipality of Icapuí.
The region is known for its tranquil beaches, natural landscapes, and over sixty kilometers of coastline—an area also home to spiny lobsters and massive salt pans that export products worldwide. Beyond kitesurfing, there is plenty to explore in the surrounding area.

You can take buggy tours and spot migratory birds that travel from all over the world to rest and breed before moving on. Boat trips are also available.
After a long day, you can treat yourself to a relaxing massage. The various coastal villages of Icapuí offer a wonderful glimpse into daily life in this region of Brazil. There are several restaurants nearby for lunch or dinner; the center of Icapuí features spots like Jardin Gastrobar, while Chapa 88—closer to the pousada—is famous for its hamburgers.

If you prefer a more relaxed pace, you can take a walk along the beach, enjoy the sunrise and sunset, or discover the local culture and hospitality.

Kitesurfing – 99% wind reliability during the June–December season

Tremembé is one of the few kitesurfing destinations in the Ceará region offering flat water.
Thanks to constant trade winds, the area boasts excellent conditions during the wind season, which runs from early June to late December.
Wind reliability is 99%. During this period, wind speeds average between 18 and 25 knots, allowing for sessions on virtually every day.
The warm, shallow water makes the spot ideal for beginners taking their first lessons, while experienced kiters take advantage of the flat water to practice new tricks or go on long downwinders.
We arrange kite lessons, equipment rental, and personal coaching through local partners.
It is also an ideal spot for experienced riders to get out on the water every day.
